  2. Lydia and Doug, you guys do a great job every week……….i’m kind of in a hurry now, but theres a couple of points I hope you could address today if you have the time.

    1) I;d like to hear you guys comment on Snow challenging the Constitution by saying something to the effect that Congress does not have the authority to provide oversight to the Executive, and GWB trying to dictate to Congress how and if his Aids will testify and that there will be a Constitutional crisis if he is challenged…………..How can Congress keep letting this pompous fool get away with spitting on and defying the Constitution and the checks and balances provided by it. The American public elected the New congress because they wanted oversite and accountability and wanted this type of power grabbing arrogance to be stopped. It appears Congress is letting the repugs dictate and frame the issues and are too afraid of looking partisan and vindictive for the 2008 election when they come across as spineless instead…………..Would it be so difficult to issue a statement clarifying Congresses role to the American public and putting these liars in their place.

    2) Rush Limbaugh yesterday or the day before was calling Obama “a Magic Negro” in fact he did 1t 27 times even singing the words to the Puff the magic dragon song………..He then claimed that he did NOTHING wrong, it was merely a test to see if liberals would smear him and give him credit for coining that term……………so let me get this straight Rush the drug addicted fool can gleefully issue racial smears 27 times then claim its ok because someone else said it first and its really only to TEST liberals.

Lets try to extrapolate and follow this flawed possibly drug addled logic a little……..so by Rush’s logic…………it would be ok for a repug to Molest children if a Democrat did it first……….Oh yeah the repugs allready used that oner for Mark Foley so I guess Rush’s so called logic is quite predictable………lets try again, if Hitler murdered and exterminated whole groups of people first then it wouldnt really be that bad if Bush and repugs did it also it could be like kind of a test to see if liberals give Bush and the repugs credit for it and try to smear them for genocide………that is if the liberals arent the ones being killed like Coulter wants.

    3) Alberto Gonzalez, should be gone, and all the people involved in the Attorney scandal should be forced to testify under oath……..this was CLEARLY a power grab geared to insure perpetual rule by obstructing justice and stifling investigations into repug corruption and to install blindly loyal cronnies, as well as instilling fear into prosecutors not to enforce unbiased justice but rather to be partisan tools of the Executive and thus short circuiting the checks and balances.

  3. Great Show today as always.
I am amazed at the knowledge and insight on the issues you both possess.
You work well together and this show needs to hit the major markets.

  8. Hey - Doug and Lydia you are the BEST! I really enjoy the show. Wish it were longer and you had more time to give us your thoughts on who will win in 2008.

    Comment by John R. — April 1, 2007 @ 9:21 pm

  9. I just watched the clip you had with O’Reilly and Col. Wright. Keith Obermann (I hope I spelled his name correctly) referenced this exchange on his show when he named O’Reilly “Worst Person in The World.” I am glad that I got to see O’Reilly make a jerk out of himself first hand. I can help but think, “What a self-serving, self-righteous prig this guy is.”

I also like the name you’ve given him. This is the first time that I’ve visited your site. I remember Lydia from her days on television. I wish her the best in her new career.

  10. Doug and Lydia, this week you outdid yourselves. THIS IS A FANTASTIC SHOW! I wish I could hear you everyday.

  11. Also, you guys really are well-informed and a lot of fun to listen to. It’s never boring.

    Comment by John R. — April 7, 2007 @ 12:02 pm

  12. Thats a great point you made Lydia.

Billionaire republicans paint liberals as the wealthy elite, and old fogies in the midwest buy it, because the billionaire conservatives adopt a “hokey accent” and make the lower and middle class think they’re one of them.

    Comment by WORFEUS — April 7, 2007 @ 12:28 pm

  13. Enjoyed the show today. Thanks for focusing on workers issues. They are often overlooked.

    You work well together.

  15. A great show, yeah right.

This is the Dynamic Duo of Hate
a lot of content from this show, they each take turns reading articles from leftwing hate sites.

and what was it that Lydia said…”do they have fences in the middle of the ocean?”
    Brilliant Lydia, just brilliant

  16. Hey Troll Tex……..using an alias again?

    Comment by Mike — April 8, 2007 @ 11:31 am

  17. I don’t know who Tex is, but somehow I get the feeling I would like him.

    Comment by WHITEWIDOW — April 8, 2007 @ 11:49 am

  18. Oh and Whitewidow/TT talking about hatespeak and hateful people how would you descrive a miserable wretch of a man who seeks out people and places they dont like like left wing blogs and insults and attacks them on Easter yet……..sounds kinda hateful and hippocritical to me ………..but thats par for he course for you foul vulgar and hateful Reich wing trolls.

Another perfect example of your hatefulness and Hippocrissy was on Lydia’s Blog Veterans Day no less 30 seconds after talking out of the side of your mouth and saying how much you support the veterans and soldiers as well as freedom of speech, you wish a veteran and a soldier currently serving his country and fighting in Iraq dead for excercising his freedom of speecxh and stating an opinion you dont like………..so although fools like YOU might claim to support the soldiers and vets and freedom of speech and oppose hatespeak and hatefulness…………the reality is that couldnt be further from the truth.

    Comment by Mike — April 8, 2007 @ 11:54 am

  19. Lydia raised an excellent point what you Reich Wing hippocrites portray yourselves as and reality are two vastly different things.

Like she said you portray liberals as the elitists when that couldbt be further from the truth, its the Right Wing Ceo’s making 1000 times what the average worker id making and not sharing the profits and in many cases cutting good paying middle class jobs and shipping them overseas to fatten their bonus and stock options who are the true elitists and who are destroying our economy.

    Comment by Mike — April 8, 2007 @ 11:57 am

  20. Look you you try to attack and discredit people just like you did to Eric Shine.

The Military Industrial Complex has far to much power in this country.Congress needs to provide MUCH more oversight and knock these megalomaniac elitists down a few pegs off their high horse.

    Comment by Mike — April 8, 2007 @ 11:59 am

  21. typical of a liberal hate filled socialist.

you conclude I am someone that I am not. Listen Dumbass, your hero Dud knows exactly who I am….go ask him and take some medicine. It looks like you got veins popping out of yer skull

    Comment by WHITEWIDOW — April 8, 2007 @ 12:03 pm

  22. Like a typical “Smear and Fear” Rovian Conservative you didnt address or respond to ANY of the issues I commented on…………instead you attacked me personally because you boxed yourself into a corner with all the lies and dishonest talking points so now you CANT respond to any real issues without looking like a fool and a hippocrite…………Hence your reduced to hateful personal attacks because thats all you crimminals have left to TRY and deflect from your lies, incompetence, and crimimal, treasonous and immoral acts.

BTW How long do you think it will be till Gonzalez is impeached or forced to resign?

    Comment by Mike — April 8, 2007 @ 3:23 pm

  23. Lydia is HOTT!!!

To bad she’s a dem which is no different than a rep.

Dems and reps = War War War

    Anarchism = Peace and love

    Comment by humorous — April 8, 2007 @ 11:56 pm

  24. For the life of me, I don’t understand why right-wing hatemongerers come onto liberal blogs. I hope Doug’s efforts to screen these people out will help to keep them from clogging up this blog.

It has been my experience that right-wingnut extremists have not interest in honest debate. Their only interests seems to be to spew their hatred wherever they can. And, frankly, I don’t care to read, debate or hear it.

    Comment by Sam — April 9, 2007 @ 3:31 am

  25. I love Lydia. You’re not bad Doug.
Hey, why do people think Lydia and Doug are spewing hate when they’re just telling the truth? I am wracking my brain. There is no hatred here at all. Being outraged by war mongering and corruption is our duty as Americans.

    Comment by Martin — April 12, 2007 @ 10:42 am

  26. Good Morning Lydia and Doug!

I’m looking forward to your program this morning!! ;)

    Comment by Suzie-Q — April 14, 2007 @ 8:57 am

  27. Great show. Doug Basham, you got some major cahoona’s! Not many public figures would have the balls to take a realist approach to this Imus controversy, and I applaud you.

A couple of points I’d like to make on the Imus matter.

The media, Al Sharpton, and most of the country, is lying about what Imus said.

    There are 2 lies here.

    1. That Imus INTENDED to “insult” the girls.

    2. That Imus INTENDED the comment to be a “racial slur”.

The second lie RELIES on the first.

IF Imus was insulting the team members, then ok, its easy to take the nappyheaded comment and attribute it to racism (although is doesn’t address the fact the team was racially DIVERSE).

But IF, Imus did NOT mean to insult the girls, then the racist intent loses all cohesion.

Which is why the media pushed the FIRST lie. So everyone would by the second.

But I have demonstrated clearly and unquestionably that Imus was NOT intending to insult the girls, but to instead compliment their physical prowess. Therefore he could not have also at the same time held the hurtful racist intent everyone is ascribing to him.

Instead its clear he was trying to sound tough and street, and it came out poorly.

So once you conclude that he did NOT intend to insult them, and therefore did NOT intend any hurtful racial smears, you are left with a white guy, trying to pay a compliment to a team of female ball players and using the wrong words to do it.

In other words, he had a brain fart.

So he apologizes. And he did. The very next day.

And what do big girls do when someone has a brainfart, makes a mistake and then humbly and publically apologizes?

Big girls ACCEPT the apology and move on.

    Small girls do not.

They’ve accepted the apology now, that they made a debacle out of it for a week, and after the Govenor of New Jersey literally broke his back to mediate a meeting with them.

But they should have accepted it the day he gave it. The very next day after making this comment. He meant them no harm. He told them that. And they should have listened to the tape, saw he was complimenting them and NOT criticizing them, and therefore they should have just accepted his apology and moved on.

    Comment by WORFEUS — April 14, 2007 @ 12:21 pm

  28. And for those of you who think this is NOT a Free Speech issue, just wait.

You’ll see over the next 6 months as the witchhunt spreads, just how much of a free speech this really is.

    Comment by WORFEUS — April 14, 2007 @ 12:30 pm

  29. At the end of the day though, the whole thing was a red herring.

    Imus never meant to insult.

    He was complimenting their prowess.

Listen to the words he said.

I don’t know if I’d have wanted to beat Rutgers…,….but they did

    Is that an insult?

    No.

If I say “I wouldn’t want to mess with Mike Tyson”, would I be insulting Mike Tyson?

No. I’d be praising his strength and physical prowess.

Imus was clearly PRAISING the Rutgers team on their hardcore attitudes and their physical size and skill.

He indicated he was SURPRISED that Tennessee won, and beat such a hard team as Rutgers.

Therefore, once you see that the comments cannot be construed as intending to insult or hurt, then the accusations of “racist intent” falls flat.

    Comment by WORFEUS — April 14, 2007 @ 12:37 pm

  30. Doug. This comment is for you.

Years ago when when I worked for a large firm in Virgina, I had a boss who had served in the Navy as the captain of a vessel that saw combat in a foreign conflict.

When we would get sidetracked and worked up on small issues, he’d remind us, “we’re not saving lives here folks”.

And your comment that the Imus thing is not significant compared to the dying going on around us made me think of that old saying from my past.

You were right on the money.

    Comment by WORFEUS — April 14, 2007 @ 12:40 pm

  31. Just remember.

The REAL story here about the Imus controversy, is that he did NOT intend to insult the girls, and did NOT intend to be racist in that comment.

This is the story that the media is NOT reporting, and in your show today you guys also skipped over this very important matter.

In all the hubbub, and hooeybalooey, no one is discussing the actual conversation!

We repeat the words “nappyheaded hos” a million times, but we never talk about the rest of the words he says in that conversation. We never discuss the context.

The idiot newscasters came out and said he meant to be racist, and that was it. No one looked any further.

This has been a runaway train lynching, and everyones missing the point.

    Comment by WORFEUS — April 14, 2007 @ 12:44 pm

  32. You’re absolutely right Worf. We should have covered that. I think we tried, but glossed over the actual words, because the words alone were so offensive — that it was a media-created circus, which I did say. We both said that Imus was the least offensive of right-wing pundits, and he was used as a scapegoat. But Media Matters said that he has a history of this kind of casual “ho” language, as well as calling Jews demeaning names, so maybe its a coarsening of the culture, and maybe his intentions are not malicious (I don’t think they are; he has a “folksy” demeanor, but then again, so does Bush with the cowboy hat) but in any case, it has to stop. This should open up a dialogue about hate-speak I HOPE!

    Comment by Lydia Cornell — April 14, 2007 @ 2:37 pm

  33. TO WHITEWIDOW: Boy you just proved that you have no sense of humor and don’t get it at all. “Do they have fences in the ocean” was supposed to be a joke, a silly comment about a silly idea of Iraq and Iran sharing a border in the ocean.

This is so typical of narrow-minded thinkers, who have no interest in becoming conscious.

God Bless you. If you think we are spewing hate, simply by pointing out the lies and egregious crimes of the Bush administration which is solely interested in war, a very un-Christian idea, then you need to go back to school. Shining a light on hatred and evil, is not in itself “hatred and evil.”

    Comment by Lydia Cornell — April 14, 2007 @ 2:45 pm

    thank you.

    Comment by Max — April 17, 2007 @ 1:39 pm

  38. Hey Max:

Syndication is definitely on the agenda. As far as downloading podcasts on i-tunes, I’m not sure, because I don’t know what that means. We archive each show in mp3 format. Will that work? Thanks and take care.

    Comment by Doug Basham — April 17, 2007 @ 9:29 pm

  39. Doug,

Aren’t mp3’s what are used on I-Pod? I’m not really sure, but when I listen to your audio archives, it brings up my Apple Quicktime player. I hope to hear you and Lydia in syndication real soon. I listen over your site and I’m from Alabama.

  42. Sam. Right click, then save target as and store it into whatever folder you want to. Then click on that file and it will play in your default player (iTunes, Real, Windows Media, etc…). You then can drag the file into a playlist on your iPod. They are kind of big files so it may take a minute or 2 for the file to start.

  44. O’Reilly is a moronic dufus who has been getting caught in lies time after time over the years. He was even on Howard Stern’s show a few years ago trying to come across as Mr. Cool and then to show his thanks he turned right around and verbally bashed Howard. This O’Reilly character shows his true colors loud and clear of being a pathological liar who is out for his own personal gain and is not to be trusted.

    Comment by Thor — April 28, 2007 @ 10:49 am

  45. Excellent work Lydia and Doug. Obviously O’Reilly’s vicious attack on the wonderful George Soros is unfounded. Mr. Soros has no more assets at his disposal than any ordinary American, and he certainly has no interest in promoting liberal politicians. What a pack of lies; he is not called “O’Lielly” for nothing.

  48. I love your show. It’s hard hitting, and extremely current in its issues and ideas. The show has the opportunity to become wildly popular with the progressive and liberal community, and you can really make an impact. I can’t believe the amazing guests you are having on, and the discussions are frank, informative and really on track. I sometimes listen to the show two or three times, because there is so much truth there. Its progressive radio with some good humor and lots and lots of frank, honest and open discussion on real issues that matter to us now. I am sold on the show.

  54. Lydia didn’t want to get distracted on the sex scandal and I admire that, but I also see why Doug brought it up.

Because it illuminates the monumental hubris it takes for the right wing to keep mocking a silly blow job Clinton got, compared to these “GUILDED SAINTS” on the right wing throwing WHORE PARTIES!!!

    It boggles the mind.

    Comment by WORFEUS — May 5, 2007 @ 9:51 am

  55. Larry Johnson is not just a hero, he’s the kind of hero we need now.

One with not just courage, but brains to match.

    Comment by WORFEUS — May 5, 2007 @ 10:44 am

  56. We have plenty of courageous people without brains.

If you doubt that, just go rent the movie “JackAss”.

    Comment by WORFEUS — May 5, 2007 @ 10:47 am

  57. Larry Johnson is right about Dick Durbin.

Durbin didn’t need to leak classified intelligence to come out and say “hey, thats not what I am hearing.”

Of course, I wonder if Bush was threating to arrest people back then who stepped out against the war. Bush had such unprecedented support that people might have truly feared for their lives if they questioned him.

But Durbin should come out and step down and accept his blame. People would respect him more.

  63. When I visit other liberal blog sites, I notice that there are right-wing ideologues either spreading misinformation on those blogs or they’re joining a chorus of “let’s blame Clinton.”

Scandals such as Gonzo-gate don’t involve President Clinton. In my opinion, this is the right’s way of not accepting the fact that Bush has been a failure as president. Regurgitating right-wing propaganda about Vince Foster or Monica Lewinsky does nothing to strengthen their case.

Bush and Company are fond of saying that they don’t pay attention to polls. Considering the outcome of the 2006 midterm elections, that much is obvious. As Doug calls them, the 29% who still support Bush, eats this up. This isn’t a victory for Republicans. Bush will, hopefully, drag his party down with him.

These are just some thoughts that I wanted to share. Thank you for the time.

Davis is from my home state and this exchange was one of the most contentous. If you can find the video, it will show how Goodling’s lawyer tried to disrupt the proceedings and Davis’ response to him. Among other things.

I have to wonder why in the hell that people like Goodling aren’t in jail. Along with her former boss.

  74. I appreciate the post. I admire Rep. Davis because he doesn’t let politics cloud the truth. Unfortunately, I don’t live in his district. Davis was a deputy federal prosecutor before he was elected to Congress. Watching him go after Goodling was pretty much watching a prosecutor question a witness. I watched the hearing on C-Span and saw the exchange that I mentioned earlier. It may not be posted on You Tube. But it made watching this whole sorry affair worthwile.

  77. We meant to say, we really enjoyed the show. In the middle somewhere, Mike Gravel seemed to be cut off completely for about 10 minutes.

We love your show, thank you.

  78. Great Interview Doug and Lydia. I really like this guy. I was wondering if Nancy Pelosi passed him my email or something. You see I have been sending her email ONCE A WEEK with the EXACT SAME VOTING PLAN that he talked about. I asked her to use it on the WAR FUNDING BILL.

Of course they caved. I even figured out what is wrong with them; why it is that they don’t listen to us.

They have climbed so high up over the top of the rotten scary poverty the middle class is facing: they are SCARED TO DEATH OF FACING IT THEMSELVES. They don’t know how to cope with only one week’s money in the bank, if you make a mistake you’re homeless.

BUT THEY SHOULD. In fact almost all of them should face it.

Everyone across America, STARTING WITH YOU IN NEVADA DOUG, should throw their guy out on their arse for this and replace them with new people. Qualification for new person? Never ever having been a politician. Just a good education and a good heart. He can learn on the job. My goodness, didn’t you notice the pack of morons that learned on the job that the rethuglicans sent to congress?

If those lame brains can do it, be have it in the bag. THROW ALL THE BUMS OUT. NOT A FEW. EVERY SINGLE ONE THAT VOTED FOR THE WAR. Every single one that voted to hang us with the new BANKRUPTSY BILL and enslave us. Every single one that voted for the PATRIOT ACT AND TOOK AWAY OUR CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS. EVERY SINGLE ONE THAT VOTED FOR THE NEW SUPREME COURT JUSTICES THAT ARE FACISTS.

    THROW THEM OUT.

  84. Praying for Bush:

Lydia; there is a time and a place for everything.

And the time and place and season for praying for Bush is NOT while we are actively trying to STOP HIS ASSAULT ON OUR COUNTRY AND THE WORLD.

One does not pray for the enemy while that enemy is in the field doing his killing. You wait until the battle is finished, then pray for the losses.

    Comment by Yellowbird — June 9, 2007 @ 12:05 pm

  85. Why does Wolf on CNN just read what he is told instead of doing the moral thing and report the real news to the people?

Because Wolf is a CIA Asset and his job is to regurgitate what he is told, not to think, just to do the bidding of the company. He has ALWAYS been a CIA DIS-Information asset. There are many of these folks in our media and it pays to bone up on the subject.

Try using terms like “media wars” and “disinformation” and check out sites like this: http://www.webcom.com/~lpease/collections/assassinations/jfk/cia-inst.htm

The fact is that the USA is a champion propaganda fomenter and has been doing this for CENTURIES. They really got practiced in the 20th Century… a bloody one from start to finish. Something for our nation to be proud of???? Not me.

    Comment by Cindy — June 9, 2007 @ 12:22 pm

  86. Thanks for having Greg Palast on the show today. He should have a one hour show every week on American TV just to get us caught up. I have had his book on my shelf, (and yes, I have read it twice) ever since I PRE ordered it on Amazon. Before I read it I assumed that the Iraq War was waged to steal the oil. I even bought a couple of copies of that gigantic tome Crossing the Rubicon: The Decline of the American Empire at the End of the Age of Oil (Paperback)
by Michael C. Ruppert, which purports that the planet is in “oil supply” decline. What a hoax. The evidence is in on Palast’s report that the American asset and ally, Sadam Hussein, was about to sell his oil on the open market in massive amounts, and would accept EUROs ONLY because of the mistreatment his nation had suffered under the Bush Crime Family and the Clinton Administration, aiding and abetting the 10 year occupation of their land. The food for oil program was ending, so it was time to take them out. It was all in the cards in the first place and Colin Powell knew it. Have you ever asked yourself why Stormin Normin disappeared into obscurity? Think it might be that he doesn’t want his family name besmirched?

After that part of the discussion you moved onto the stealing of elections. This is the most important subject of our day. If we do not resolve this problem, we have truly lost our country for all time. The powers that have sat on us for these last many years will be signed sealed and delivered forever and we the People will never be heard from again BY BALLOT. All we have is the three boxes: SOAP, BALLOT AND BULLET.

    The choice is ours.

We need to get our congress to pass a new law repealing the HAVA and re instituting paper ballots… we need an entire WEEK to vote, not just one day, and CHALLENGERS to an individual voter’s right to vote must be made 6 weeks before an election, so that it can be resolved by a magistrate before election WEEK. Any challenger should be made to pay all legal fees.

If you think this is not fair than ask yourself, DO YOU KNOW ANY DEMOCRATS THAT GO AROUND CHALLENGING THE RIGHT OF THIS OR THAT REPUBLICAN TO VOTE?

    Maybe we should.

    Comment by Cindy — June 9, 2007 @ 1:03 pm

  87. If we were to challenge the rights of Republicans to vote, we would be no better than we are. I have been a life long Democrat and I beleive in a level playing feild. Republican obviously don’t if Tim Griffin’s involvement in the vote caging scandal is any indication.

In the end, we are only as good as our actions say that we are. If we stoop to the Republican’s level of doing things, we are no better.

  97. Lydia Excellent radio show as usual, I just listened to Mondays show on FISA and you made a great point that the Democrats not only showed cowardice by approving his illegal spy program but they legitimized it and gave it validity………………..They gave Gonzalez a man they and the rest of the world are calling an incompetent liar the responsibility to head up a program that Bush CLAIMS is to protect us…………how do you go back and challenge Gonzalez competence NOW when you just voted to give him the power and responsibility to oversee a program that is CLAIMED to protect our country.

The Democrats NOT only showed extreme cowardice but even worse showed they have extremely poor judgement, they fell into a trap wherein if they NOW try to impeach Gonzalez for corruption, poor judgement, incompetence and criminality the repugs can say but you guys just voted to give him the responsibility to protect us from the big bad terrorists………..how could you vote to give an incompetent criminal that kind of responsibility.

The Moral is dont give the barbarians the keys to the gates of Rome then cry when they rape, pilage and ransack every village in the city.

  98. GWB’s NEW mantra and dishonest tactic or game is to endlessly parrot how we need to listen to the experts and generals on the ground in Iraq……….too bad this lying piece of human waste is too hippocritical to practice what he actually preaches……….When General Shinseki a true military expert disagreed with him and his preconceived ideology that a small force was adaquate Bush and his attack dogs tarred and feathered him, they attacked and attemped to discredit him in any and EVERY way possible…….this sent a CLEAR message to the other generals not to disagree with the White House or they would be fired and discredited.

Bush and his arrogant pompous cabal of chicken hawks who avoided fighting for their country when it was their turn and never served in the military went in half cocked against military advice with too small of a force that was under equiped.

Bush CLAIMS he listens to his generals, intelligence experts and people on the ground…………thats a bald faced lie!

He disregarded Shinseki a general who was proven absolutlely right, When the CIA issued a comprehenisive authoriative analysis of the Chaos, Iraqi resentment, likelyhood of a civil war, increased Islamic Fundamentalism and violence, deep rifts and divisions in Iraqi society and an insurgency and guerilla war aimed at US soldiers among other dire consequences and this analysis was presented to Bush, Bush chose to surpress the warnings by US intelligence and conceal them from the public because it weakened his flawed logic and twisted ideology.

Bush CLAIMS to listen to his generals, intelligence experts and people on the ground……….YET when the man HE chose to handle Iraq policy Paul Bremmer repeatyedly told Bush there were insufficicient troops on the ground to make the policy a success, Bush was simultaneously talking out of the other side of his mouth CLAIMING to the American public that we had MORE than enough troops in Iraq and that he was relying on the American leaders in Bagdad for their oppinion that no more trops were needed. Lieutenant General Ricardo Sanchez’s repeated desperate pleas for more equipment and body armor to protect the troops fell on deaf ears yet Bush CLAIMS to listen to his people and to support the troops.

  99. The lies of the Reich Wing are so blatant and absurd its riddiculous……..yet the men we elect to represent us and make key decisions seem to lack the wit and intelligence to counter them.

Worfeus is absolutely right we need Strong intelligent people to put out there to challenge and battle the Reich Wing deceivers in the MSM……..instead of the scarecrows the left puts out there we need people like Olberman, Ritter, Basham etc………….Doug Basham my not be well known in the MSM but he absolutely shreds the Rights lies mantras and dishonest talking points. Lydia I hope when your book comes out you put yoursdelf out there on the political talk shows because we desperately NEED intelligent people who have facts and logic at their disposal to counter the fear and lies.

whats sad to me is we have many schmoes on this blog capable of shredding and disecting the Right Wings lies and dishonest talking points yet our own congress and the people we put out there in the MSM to represent our position lack the wit and intelligence to do this.

  100. THe Bush Administration is built on a foundation of lies…….Cheney bristled at the NY Times for daring to state the truth that there was no Al Qaeda/Saddam tie, Cheney then dared to say there was NO fundamental split between Bush’s outrageous lies and the Commission.

Cheney went on to deny he had ever personally ben responsible for trying to create the false illusion of a linkage between Al Qaeda and Iraq.

Of Course Jon Stewart outed the liar when he played Cheney’s outright denial that he ever stated Iraqi intelligence met with Al Qaeda in Prague……….then Stewart froze Cheneys ugly mug on the screen and played the EXACT video of when Cheney had stated that very thing in the EXACT words he had denied. After catching the Vice President on video in a blatant bald faced lie Stewart addressed Cheney’s frozen likeness on scren and said”Its my duty to inform you that your pants are on fire”

  102. BTW Doug, I couldnt agree more with you that the time for being wimps or being nice is OVER………….if one of these bullies hits you you hit them back 3 times as hard,…………..thats exactly what needs to be done to take our country back.

The left just keeps allowing the Reich Wing to dishonestly frame the issues and dictate what the debate is……..we have facts on truth on OUR side and still get buffaloed and intimidated by these lying fear mongering losers.

Whats sad is the people I elect to represent me and show leadership and sound decision making dont even have the intelligence to see the real issues no less stand up for their principles and expose the lying fear mongering bullies for what they are and put them in their place.

If we cant even expect the democrats to excercise sound judgement when doing the job they were elected for how can we expect them to do so in a crisis.

And make no mistake we most definately have a Constitutional crisis, we were teetering on the edge of democracy and becoming a fascist police state before the gutless FISA vote………after that vote we are now MORE of a fascist police state than a free democracy and i dont see things turning around anytime soon is this gutless pack of fools is all i have to count on Pelosi and Reed are a DISGRACE!

No wonder you don’t get it. You are blinded by your own agenda, and will do anything to protect it. Look inside for a change and ask yourself if there is something you are missing. We are open to hearing from you.

But who are you calling “brutes?”

    Comment by Lydia Cornell — August 9, 2007 @ 2:10 pm

  106. Greetings Lydia,
You’re quite right, there is only one brute on the show and it’s certainly not you, though I use the word more in relation to political understanding than to appearance. (Doug insults people too, so don’t take it personally).
As to my profession, I think if you visit my new myspace page that you’ll get an insight into the underlying philosphy. It isn’t just the money, there are crystalline justifications. No, I don’t find anything missing.
If you’re open to hearing from me, then you could perhaps invite me as a friend to your myspace page, unless you don’t think the insulated crew over there could handle what most of them would certainly perceieve as opposition. Though they’d be wrong as I’m not really opposed to the progressive movement, as I see in it much utility as I noted in my first blog. At least take some calls now and then and I’ll oblige.
As I said in my recent email to you, I just rediscovered the show and do find it entertaining, though probably not in the way you would expect.

I have even recommended your show in my first myspace blog. My page is a work in progress. Thank you for your response.

  108. This was an exceptional show. Really enjoyed listening to it! The only thing that I would have wanted to hear was more specifics from Senator Edwards. For example, it’s great to say that he supports universal health care, but how does he plan to overcome obstacles in Congress or, as Lydia mentioned, the horrific lobbying groups like pharmaceutical companies (of course, the AMA is also a huge offender that opposes universal health care). And many Americans citizens are also against it, having been brainwashed into thinking that they won’t have the right to see their own doctor or will be facing endless waiting lists.

Likewise with trade agreements and outsourcing labor or preventing monopolies like Rupert Murdoch from controlling the media and thus, the quality of information Americans are receiving… I certainly agree with everything that all three of you said but I’m still dubious about our ability to make those things happen because I didn’t hear a really concrete, specific action plan.

Thanks so much for being you and for delivering such a terrific show.

  114. Larry said…
    Lydia,

Here is an article from National Revue:

As Americans wonder how to cope with Iran, Iran keeps killing Americans. The primary battleground is Iraq, where agents of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards fund and arm the Shiite extremists whose IEDs pierce the armor of U.S. soldiers and whose bombs massacre Iraqi civilians. Within the next few days, four senators will introduce legislation that faces these facts unflinchingly and calls on America to win.”

Hey hasnt Blackwater been arming the insurgents as well………maybe Congress should declare Blackwater a terrorist organization while they are at it, since they are massacring Iraqi civillians and putting OUR soldiers lives in danger by arming the insurgents as well.

I’m so tired of the hippocrissy of the Reich Wing doing EXACTLY that which they decry the enemy of doing, they WANT to nuke Iran pre-emptively because they claim they THINK iran will nuke Israel or the USA pre-emptively if they are allowed to acquire the alleged nuclear weapons that there is essentially NO proof they are developing,,,,,,,,,,,,and WORST of all the same pack of Neo Con fools who are dead wrong about EVERYTHING they have ever said, are using the same fear tactics, lies and dishonest rhetoric to manipulate us into yet ANOTHER disasterous war of choice for oil in the Middle East despite the present one being a disasterous pathetic quagmire with no hope of a happy or decent ending or resolution…….it boggles the mind that The Democratic majority in Congress are letting these same buffons manipulate and intimidate us again with the same tired riddiculous rhetoric………..I feel like its groundhog day and we are reliving both the 2002 runup to the Iraq war and Hitlers rise to power and we havent learned a godamn thing from the mistakes of the past.

I dont know if I can support the Democrats ANYMORE with the exception of Edwards, Kucinich or Richardson………I cant support a bunch of spineless cowards who could care less about our Constitution and the freedom it epitomizes, While I hold progressive views I am opposed to the repug freedom hating fascists much more than i support the Democrats, running as “not a repug”, “repug lite” or merely a “better choice” than a repug doesnt cut it for me……..the only viable people I would support are Edwards, Gore, Kucininch, Richardson and maybe Obama.

watching this Congress makes me sick to my stomach if they dont have the intelligence, sound judgement and leadership to stand up to the repugs particularly when put in the same situation over and over again then they dont deserve to be President or Congress people many of them made the same mistake authorizing Losermans Bill as they did giving GWB authorization to attack iraq, Hillary and the other Demmocrats have shown me they have learned absolutely NOTHING from 2002.

    Comment by Mike — September 26, 2007 @ 11:10 pm

  115. Like I said it boggles the mind that the repugs biggest beef with Iran is they CLAIM iran MAY nuke us or Israel pre-emptively, so THEY want to nuke Iran pre-emptively, if nuking someone pre-emptive is wrong, (which it is), its wrong weather Iran or the Neo Cons do it.

BTW, you wouldnt know the Democrats are the Majority in Congress from the way they give Bush EVERYTHING he wants without even a fight when he starts his demogogery and fear tactics…………the only difference i see is now the Democrats have subpoena power for all the good its doing them wish bush and his cronnies just thumbing there noses at the subpoenas and NOTHING being done.

There’s a website that would be PERFECT for Lydia: it’s called hollywoodiscalling.com, and in my mind’s eye I can just see Lydia doing phone appearances at office parties! :)

Doug–saw you in the radio article in Las Vegas City Lies: when did you get rid of the mullet? And, was it the pink hair dye that soaked into your skull and made you a liberal? Haw haw!

Remember, as Dr. Savage reminds us, “Liberalism is a mental disorder.”

  122. Thank you so much for the work you do. I found out about your show actually from the Kucinich campaign. I am a progressive who believes that exactly as Ms. Cornell said during the last show, progressives are deep thinkers but many of us who have an outlet seem to try to scream louder than neo-conservatives, I am grateful for your take.

Progressive know how to think and feel at the same time. Frustration is kin to violence. We must keep our hopes up, educate, motivate and activate.

Thank you for giving an alternative for progressives interested in more than rhetoric flavored left.

One example of progressive thinking is realizing though Iran does not have nuclear weapons, Iran is producing nuclear technology which is not healthy for them or for us. The proliferation of nuclear technology even for energy is not healthy no matter where it is.

I do believe the conversation on the latest NIE should be steered toward complete nuclear disarmament.

She mentioned I am my own worst enemy and too critical of myself which holds me back. Couldn’t be more closer to the truth, but hearing it spoken by an educated and connected stranger will be life altering. I affirm it.

  128. Dear Doug,
I listened to your radio show for the first time Fr.day June 13 . Though I didn’t agree with all your coments , I still enjoyed your show .I’m a registered Republican who is leaning toward voting for Sen. O’Bama . I did have a concern with your statement that all republicans are cowards when it pertains to war . I am a combat veteran of the Vietnam War , I recieved a Silver Star , a Bronze Star ant two Army Commeendation Medals with V device . You should be careful in your comments . Even so I will continue listening to your radio show .

  129. Your June 9th Show where you interviewed Vincent Bugliosi was fantastic. I really enjoyed the show. It’s good to hear your show go back to the format you used to have. I don’t get to drop in during your hours these days, but your show is ALWAYS on my Sansa View. Thanks Doug and Lydia for the great show. I really enjoy it. I just got my book “The Prosecution Of George W. Bush For Murder.” and I can’t wait to sit down and read it. Thanks for this interview.

  131. Do you still feel that Edwards is a great example of family values? To quote you from March 22, 2007:

“CHEERS and Blessings to John and Elizabeth Edwards. The courage it takes to be optimistic in the face of Mrs. Edwards’ returning cancer is exactly what this country needs. I believe John Edwards will be our next president. Though I love Obama and admire Hilary, I think Edwards stands the best chance of actually winning America’s vote and heart. He is an incredible human being. ”

What are your thoughts on Edwards now?

  132. Phenomenal convention coverage - I am very impressed Doug and Lydia! Your humor really livens up the political process and my wife and I think you are the best talk-show on the air.
Please extend the show to more hours. We agree with everything you have to say.

  134. Thank you for the efforts that both of you put into giving us a liberal voice on the airwaves. For too long right wing loudmouths have controlled the radio spreading the lies of the republican party and spreading hate. Keep up the good work.

  135. Thank you for an amazing show today. The healers that spoke channeling angels said everything that I know is true, and I would like to hear more of them. Will you please give us their website information or how we can contact them personally?

    Thank you.

  138. This show is no longer on KLAV 1230 at 8:00 a.m. so why has this site not been updated?

    Comment by Neil Smith — July 20, 2010 @ 7:58 am

  139. Lydia said that the show would be back and the site updated in a couple months over a year ago . . . hello!

    Comment by Neil Smith — July 20, 2010 @ 7:59 am

  140. Neil and EVERYONE: This site was offline for awhile. We tried to bring the show back to Vegas, but there is no money in Progressive radio. The site has been spammed.

Please check out my new show on KELSEY GRAMMER’S TODHD TV on Demand. Go to my website at LydiaCornell.com and click on the Kelsey news article which takes you there. Doug and I will be back as soon as we can. Love to all. Keep doing the right thing.. no matter what. We are so sorry for the long delay and the hardships everyone is going through.

    Comment by Lydia Cornell — August 25, 2010 @ 2:05 pm

  141. Lydia Cornell is very foreign to the truth as she has libeled me with malice and refuses to take down that horrible comment that she made about me. All she does is taunt me by changing it but never removing it. Furthermore she is frightened of the truth as she deletes any comments that I have made in regards to removing her horrible statement. I want people to know the truth as she will never be able to post any comment that I said that was threatening in any manner.
